Do your New Year's resolutions include career-related goals?

By Amber Weaver, Career Assistant

Welcome back, everyone!

I hope you all had wonderful breaks, with lots of time to rest and enjoy time with friends and family. It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to start a new semester, but here we are at Ashland again! The Career Services Center is here to help with all of your career goals for this New Year, whether they include a new job, graduate school, or just a fresh new resume. Maybe we can help you with some of your career-related resolutions for 2012!

Think it might be time to update your resume or write a cover letter? Career Assistants are available for walk-in appointments from 1:00-5:00, Monday through Friday. Resumes can also be emailed to or submitted to AU Career Connect, if that is more convenient for you. Professional staff members are also available by appointment for resume critiques.

Looking for a job or internship for this semester or over the summer? One way to find it is to log into Career Connect, where you can see what positions both local and national employers have open. You can also use CareerShift, which is another employment search engine. Both of these are accessible from the Career Service Center’s website,

The Career Services Center will also be holding a number of events throughout the semester to help you with your career goals! There will be a Resume Writing Workshop on January 18th if you could use some help writing your resume. Internship Awareness Week will be from January 23rd-27th, with multiple events to help you with your internship search. And in February there will be a job fair right here on campus to help you with your job search.

We hope to see you this semester, and help you out with all of your career goals for the year!
