Lindsey Knapp, Intern of the Month for October, 2012

The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Lindsey Knapp as October's Intern of the Month. Lindsay is a Biology major and completed her internship at The University of California-Berkeley in the Department of Biology. Lindsey's responsibilities were similar to that of a graduate student--she implemented experiments independently throughout the summer, and at the end of the summer gave presentations on her projects.  Lindsey says, "I would strongly encourage students in all majors to complete an internship. Nothing will teach you more than actually getting into the field and working alongside professionals." Lindsey is also the President of the Honors Society and works in the Chemistry Stockroom.
Congratulations, Lindsey!

Get Ready for the Graduate School Fair

The Graduate School Fair is only 3 days away. Are you prepared?  If you're still unsure of what to expect, please complete these four steps to help you get ready to meet the schools!
  1. Register! You can register for the Graduate School Fair using the AU Career Connect system.
  2. If you were unable to attend the Graduate School Workshop, which was held on Tuesday, September 18th, you may wish to review the slides from the presentation. This presentation covers a number of aspects of the graduate school selection process.
  3. Review the Graduate School Guide to get ideas on what to consider for Graduate School.  The guide covers how to research a graduate school, what to ask program representatives, and what to consider in how graduate programs might "fit" you. The guide also includes information for later, such as how to put together a resume and personal statement for graduate school and a guide to answering commonly-asked interview questions.
  4. Check out the list of schools attending and do your research on the schools that interest you.
If you have questions, please call or stop by the Career Services Center!
