How to Find On-Campus Student Job Opportunities

Are you looking for on-campus employment for the Fall? Please read on to learn where to look for on-campus jobs and how to apply!

AU Career Connect:  Student Employment Database (for on and off campus positions)

All on campus jobs are posted in AU Career Connect.  Each department collects resumes and handles their own hiring process - but AU Career Connect should be the main hub for finding out about opportunities.

New User Registration

The first time you use the system, you will need to register. This site is not connected to your AU email account.

  1. Visit www.ashland.edu/career and click on the “AU Career Connect” icon
  2. Click “Students and Alumni – click here to register!” at the bottom of the page
  3. Enter your 7-digit AU ID number as your username (example: 1234567) and create a password you will remember. If the system says your username or email address is in use, you may already have created an account. Try resetting your password or contact our office.
  4. Fill out all required fields and submit your profile.
  5. Your profile will be in a pending status until a Career Services staff member confirms your account - typically within a few business days. During this time you can (and should) upload a resume for review but you will not be able to apply for jobs until your profile is confirmed. You will receive an automated email from the system once your account has been approved.

Uploading Your Documents

The majority of on-campus jobs will require you to submit a resume. If you do not have an updated resume, the Career Services Center is available to assist you over the summer in creating or updating a resume. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment: cdcstaff@ashland.edu or 419-289-5064. Phone and Skype appointments are available!

We also have a “Resume Writing Guide” available online -  available on the myAU Portal, in Google Drive, and in AU Career Connect itself. Get access to the guide here!

  • Before uploading any documents, be sure to save them as PDF files to protect formatting. It is recommended that you name the document something like yourlastname.resume.
  • Put your cursor over My Account and select My Documents.
  • Click Add next to the document type you wish to upload and click on the Choose File link. Select the correct document, name it, and click Save.
  • Preview your document after uploading to ensure it is saved in proper formatting.

Resume Requirements for On-Campus Job Search:

Career Services staff will review each resume uploaded to AU Career Connect prior to activating it in the system to make sure that they meet these requirements:

  1. Make sure your name is clearly visible at the top of your document.
  2. Please use your @ashland.edu email rather than a personal email on your resume.
  3. Add Ashland University, including your anticipated major and degree (if applicable) – see examples in the Resume Writing Guide.
  4. Proofread! Resumes with significant spelling or typographical errors will not be approved.

Resumes that meet the above requirements will be approved in the system to apply for on-campus jobs, while resumes that do not meet the 4 requirements listed above will need to be revised and resubmitted. You will receive an automated email from the system letting you know if your resume is approved.

Students who need resume revisions will receive a more detailed response from Career Services staff identifying what specific changes you should make to be approved.

Please note: You may receive an email from Career Services with additional suggestions other than these. Those suggestions are optional, but encouraged if you wish to continue improving your resume to further impress potential employers.
